DST News: Palestinians in Gaza have told Al Jazeera that their lives remain largely unchanged since the announcement of the ceasefire, as Israel continues intermittent assaults and restricts humanitarian aid deliveries.
Meanwhile, Hamas returned the bodies of two Israeli captives — a soldier and a civilian — to Israel late last night, both of whom were confirmed dead by Israeli authorities.
Despite continued violence, US envoy Steve Witkoff described the Gaza ceasefire as “exceeding expectations,” even as hospitals reported receiving 13 bodies in the past 24 hours from Israeli attacks across the enclave.
Since Israel’s war on Gaza began in October 2023, at least 68,229 Palestinians have been killed and 170,369 wounded. In contrast, 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023 attacks, when around 200 individuals were taken captive.
