DST News: Real Madrid broke their four-game losing streak to Barcelona with a 2-1 triumph in the first El Clásico of the season on Sunday.
Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham were the heroes for Los Blancos, scoring a goal each to secure a crucial league win at the Santiago Bernabéu. The victory extended Madrid’s lead at the top of La Liga to five points after ten rounds.
Mbappé opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, finishing off a neat assist from Bellingham. Earlier, VAR had overturned both a penalty decision and a goal for Madrid within the first 15 minutes. Barcelona hit back through Fermín López in the 38th minute, but Bellingham restored the hosts’ advantage just before halftime with a precise strike in the 43rd.
Mbappé missed a chance to increase the lead when his 52nd-minute penalty was saved by Barça goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny.
Tensions flared late in the game when Barcelona’s Pedri was sent off, leading to a heated altercation involving players from both benches. The scuffle continued after the final whistle, with Vinícius Júnior and Lamine Yamal among those involved.
The result marked Madrid’s 12th win in 13 matches this season, their only defeat coming in a 5-2 loss to Atlético Madrid in September. Barcelona, meanwhile, suffered their third defeat across all competitions, following earlier losses to Paris Saint-Germain (2-1) in the Champions League and Sevilla (4-1) in La Liga.
