DST News: Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has reignited the long-running “GOAT” debate, saying he does not believe Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer of all time.

In a revealing interview with Piers Morgan on Uncensored, the Al-Nassr forward bluntly said, “Messi better than me? I don’t agree with that opinion. I don’t want to be humble.”

The 40-year-old Portuguese icon, now playing in the Saudi Pro League, insisted his record and longevity prove he deserves recognition as the best in history. Ronaldo continues to shine for Al-Nassr, scoring nine goals in 10 appearances so far this season.

The interview — his first major sit-down since moving to Saudi Arabia — comes as Ronaldo reflects on life away from Europe, where he made history with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

Ronaldo Responds to Rooney

Ronaldo also addressed comments made years ago by his former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney, who had publicly declared Messi the best player ever.

Rooney said at the time, “They’re both incredible, but I think Messi’s the best ever.” Speaking later on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast, Rooney clarified, “People think I hate Cristiano — I don’t. He’s a genius. It’s just that I prefer Messi’s style of play.”

Ronaldo, however, appeared unfazed by the past remarks, saying simply, “It doesn’t pose any problem for me.”

No Signs of Slowing Down

Despite turning 40 earlier this year, Ronaldo shows no signs of slowing down. He remains Al-Nassr’s key figure and has made it clear that he intends to keep competing for trophies in Saudi Arabia.

The only major accolade still missing from his glittering career is the FIFA World Cup — a dream he hopes to chase one last time in 2026, possibly in one final showdown against long-time rival Lionel Messi.

For now, Ronaldo has made his stance clear — in his mind, humility can wait, and the GOAT debate is far from over.
