DST News: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told Sweden’s parliament on Thursday that the country has managed to protect key demands in ongoing diplomatic discussions aimed at ending the war with Russia.
Speaking via video link, Zelensky described the current phase as “a critical moment,” stressing that Kyiv is working closely with the United States and European partners to chart the next steps toward a just resolution.
He warned lawmakers that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is seeking “legal recognition” of territories seized by Moscow, a move Zelensky said would undermine the core international principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. “He wants this not only from Ukraine — he wants it from the entire world,” he said. “And that is extremely dangerous.”
Zelensky noted that despite difficult negotiations, Ukraine has been able to keep “very sensitive points” on the agenda. These include the release of all Ukrainian prisoners of war and the return of children forcibly taken to Russia.
He added that more work remains and urged swift decisions on the use of frozen Russian state assets to compensate Ukraine.
“The aggressor must pay fully for the war he started,” Zelensky told Swedish lawmakers.
