Taliban Says Pakistani Airstrike Kills Nine Children in Afghanistan’s Khost Province

DST News: At least nine children and one woman were killed when Pakistani forces bombed a home in eastern Afghanistan’s Khost province, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on Tuesday. According to Mujahid, the overnight strike targeted the residence of a local man, Wilayat Khan, in the Gerbzwo district. He said the attack destroyed the house and left four additional civilians wounded in separate Pakistani raids in Kunar and Paktika provinces. His statement on X included images that he said showed victims of the strike.

Pakistani military and foreign ministry officials were not immediately available for comment.

The reported attacks came a day after two suicide bombings killed three paramilitary troops in the Pakistani city of Peshawar.

Tensions between the two neighbors have risen sharply in recent months. In October, clashes along the border left dozens dead in what was described as the most serious confrontation since the Taliban seized power in 2021.

Although both sides agreed to a ceasefire during talks in Doha last month, negotiations later held in Turkey broke down without a broader agreement, largely due to disputes over militant groups operating in Afghanistan that Pakistan considers a threat.
