Arab and Muslim-majority nations have strongly rejected Israel’s proposal to turn Gaza’s Rafah crossing into an exit-only route

DST News: Arab and Muslim-majority nations have strongly rejected Israel’s proposal to turn Gaza’s Rafah crossing into an exit-only route. Foreign ministers from Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and the UAE said the plan would effectively push Palestinians off their land and block life-saving aid.

Their statement comes as Israel continues to violate the ceasefire, with hundreds of reported attacks in recent weeks. On Saturday, three more people were killed in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza.

Israel’s military announced this week that Rafah would open only for Palestinians leaving Gaza, and only with Israeli approval. Egypt and other regional states condemned the move, calling it a breach of the US-led peace plan, which requires the crossing to operate in both directions.

The ministers urged Israel to fully comply with the plan and stressed that Palestinians must not be displaced. They reiterated support for a path toward a two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian state that includes Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

At the Doha Forum, Qatar’s prime minister said the ceasefire was at a critical point and could not be considered meaningful without a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. Türkiye also noted that talks were still under way on the proposed international stabilization force, which would help secure the border and support long-term peace efforts.
