DST News: Fresh clashes have erupted along the Thailand Cambodia border as fighting entered its second week, defying claims by US President Donald Trump that a ceasefire had been reached.

Thailand’s military said it launched a new offensive aimed at reclaiming what it described as sovereign territory. Cambodia meanwhile announced the closure of all border crossings with Thailand as hostilities intensified.

The conflict is rooted in a long standing dispute over their 800 kilometer shared border, originally drawn during the colonial era. Both sides have exchanged artillery fire and air strikes in recent days, hitting military positions and civilian areas.

At least 25 soldiers and civilians have been killed since the violence escalated, while more than half a million people have been forced to flee their homes on both sides of the frontier.

Despite diplomatic efforts and international pressure, the situation on the ground remains volatile, raising concerns about further escalation and a deepening humanitarian crisis.
