DST News: The United States has bombed Venezuela and removed President Nicolás Maduro from power, seizing him in Caracas and transferring him to a New York detention centre to face trial. Maduro arrived on Saturday at a US military base before being taken to custody.
Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodríguez condemned the move as a “kidnapping,” insisting Maduro remains the country’s legitimate president. US President Donald Trump said Washington would “run” Venezuela and exploit its oil resources, without outlining a clear plan.
The UN Security Council is set to meet on Monday, as Secretary-General António Guterres warned the US action could set a “dangerous precedent.”
