DST News: Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has been declared “in great shape” after briefly stumbling during a welcome ceremony in Ankara, Turkey, according to his aides. The 73-year-old president lost his balance while being received by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan but appeared uninjured and continued with his scheduled bilateral meetings.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said Tinubu stepped on a metal object, calling it a minor incident that was blown out of proportion. Another aide, Sunday Dare, emphasized that the state visit proceeded smoothly.

The fall, captured on official video and widely shared on social media, sparked public discussion but little concern. Tinubu has previously brushed off similar incidents with humor.

The visit focused on strengthening Nigeria–Turkey relations, resulting in new agreements on trade, defense, and economic cooperation, with both countries reaffirming a goal to raise bilateral trade to $5bn.
