DST News: Erling Haaland produced another match-winning performance as Norway defeated Brazil 2-1 to reach the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in their history, setting up a blockbuster clash with England.

The 25-year-old striker broke the deadlock in the 79th minute before sealing victory with a superb low strike from outside the penalty area 11 minutes later. Although he had only four touches inside the box throughout the match, Haaland once again demonstrated his remarkable efficiency and clinical finishing.

His brace took his tally to seven goals in four World Cup matches, moving him level with Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi at the top of the tournament’s Golden Boot standings.

The historic victory keeps Norway’s dream of an unlikely world title alive. Playing in their first World Cup since 1998, Ståle Solbakken’s side has exceeded expectations and will now face England, who edged Mexico 3-2 in an entertaining last-16 encounter.

Pundits praised Haaland’s ability to influence games despite limited involvement. Former England striker Wayne Rooney said the forward has inspired belief across Norway, while Ian Wright highlighted his extraordinary knack for scoring without needing many touches.

The Erling Haaland has now scored 62 goals in 54 senior international appearances, averaging nearly a goal per game, with only six coming from the penalty spot. The Manchester City striker has also scored in each of his last 14 competitive matches for Norway, netting 27 goals during that remarkable run.
