End the Silence: The World Must Confront the Ongoing Genocide in Sudan

Source: Facebook

DST News: Nearly three years have passed since war broke out in Sudan, yet much of the global media remains silent. Beyond the Sudanese Canadian community, few are even aware of the immense human suffering taking place. Despite tireless efforts—appealing to Members of Parliament, news organizations, and media outlets—calls for awareness and action have largely gone unanswered.

The image shared depicts the horrors of recent atrocities in El Fasher, Sudan.

While Canada’s Liberal government deserves recognition for establishing the Humanitarian and Compassionate Pathway to help citizens and permanent residents reunite with family members affected by the war, devastating delays in processing applications have left many in life-threatening situations. Since the program’s launch in 2024, only about a quarter of applicants have reached safety in Canada. Alarmingly, the IRCC Deputy Minister recently confirmed in a CIMM meeting that there is no upper limit on processing times for this program.

The image stands as a haunting reminder of what those still waiting endure daily.

Some have been fortunate enough to find refuge and begin rebuilding their lives in Canada, even if the process is slow and uncertain. But for the countless others with no connections abroad and no way out, the crisis worsens with each passing day.

It is time to break the silence.
Search for the truth. Read. Share. Speak.

This is not merely a civil war — it is a genocide, fueled and sustained by powerful external forces complicit in the destruction of the Sudanese people.
