DST News: China’s Ministry of Commerce has announced a one-year suspension of countermeasures previously imposed on five U.S.-linked branches of Hanwha Ocean, the major South Korean shipbuilding company.
The suspension took effect on Monday, according to a statement from the ministry.
Beijing’s move follows Washington’s decision to delay, for one year, the enforcement of Section 301 measures targeting China’s maritime, shipping, and logistics industries.
The subsidiaries affected by the suspension include Hanwha Shipping LLC, Hanwha Philly Shipyard Inc., Hanwha Ocean USA International LLC, Hanwha Shipping Holdings LLC, and HS USA Holdings Corp. These entities had been listed under Beijing’s countermeasures on October 14, 2025.
The temporary pause is seen as part of a broader attempt to ease tensions surrounding trade actions in the global shipbuilding and maritime sectors.
