DST News: Bangladesh has strongly condemned the recent decision by the Israeli Knesset to approve draft legislation seeking to impose so-called “Israeli sovereignty” over the occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank.
In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed that “Israel holds no sovereignty over any part of the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.”
The statement further said that Israel continues its illegal occupation by expanding settlements in the West Bank, in clear defiance of international law, the UN Charter, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions — particularly Resolution 2334.
Dhaka also welcomed the Advisory Opinion delivered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on October 22, 2025, which reaffirmed Israel’s obligations under international humanitarian law, including the absolute prohibition on using starvation of civilians as a method of warfare.
Reiterating Bangladesh’s long-standing position, the foreign ministry stressed the country’s unwavering support for the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people — notably their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine along pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
