DST News: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has no intention of engaging in any negotiations or adopting the proportional representation (PR) system, said the party’s Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. He emphasized that the BNP’s goal is to build a democratic state grounded in the will and affection of the people, steering clear of politics driven by violence or vengeance.
Speaking at a BNP joining event at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Monday (October 20) afternoon, Mirza Fakhrul said that while various plots and conspiracies are at play in the country, BNP is committed to creating a non-communal Bangladesh that unites people of all faiths—like the seven colors of a rainbow. He urged citizens to rise above misconceptions and come together for the nation’s greater interest.
He also alleged that over the past 15 years, a fascist regime has devastated Bangladesh’s economy and political system. BNP, he said, seeks to rebuild the nation based on inclusive governance and collective opinion.
At the event, around fifty members of the Hindu community joined BNP. The party plans to hold a larger rally within the next two weeks to commemorate their inclusion.
