DST News: The foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey held a phone conversation on Monday to discuss escalating regional tensions and their broader implications for global security.
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, spoke with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan about recent developments, including the impact of ongoing conflicts involving the United States and Israel.
During the call, Araghchi alleged that attacks on civilian infrastructure in Iran—including schools, hospitals, and residential areas—constitute serious violations. He reaffirmed Iran’s determination to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, describing recent actions against what he termed aggressor military positions as a legitimate exercise of self-defense.
He also expressed concern over the reported use of territories in regional Muslim-majority countries for launching attacks against Iran, calling it a troubling development. Araghchi warned that such actions could further destabilize the region, including key waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz, which is critical for global maritime trade.
The Iranian minister emphasized the need for accountability, urging regional and international actors to address what he described as ongoing violations.
Meanwhile, Fidan underscored the serious consequences of continued conflict in the region. Referring to his recent diplomatic engagements, he stressed the importance of de-escalation, dialogue, and strengthening ties between Iran and its neighboring countries to maintain regional stability.
