DST News: Authorities have issued a public notice in two national newspapers, declaring 261 individuals — including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina — as fugitives in a sedition case and ordering them to appear before a Dhaka court on November 11.
The notice, printed in Amar Desh and The Daily Star, listed the names and addresses of all the accused.
Earlier, on October 14, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam directed officials to publish the notice, summoning Hasina and others accused of attempting to overthrow the interim government and engaging in anti-state activities.
Among the other notable accused are Dr Rabbi Alam, Kabirul Islam Akash, Advocate Kamrul Islam, Elahi Newaz Masum, Zakir Hossain Ziku, Pervej Khan Emon, Sohana Pervin Runa, Md Mahmudul Azad Ripon, and Hafizur Rahman Iqbal.
The court had previously accepted a police petition to show 25 of the 286 total accused as arrested, while law enforcement sought to summon the remaining 261 who remain at large.
Case documents reveal that on December 19, 2024, a virtual meeting held via Zoom led to the formation of a group called Joy Bangla Brigade. Participants allegedly pledged to reinstate fugitive Sheikh Hasina as prime minister through civil conflict if necessary, vowing to fight until her return to power.
According to investigators, 577 individuals joined the online session from inside Bangladesh and abroad, collectively expressing loyalty and commitment to follow Hasina’s directives.
