DST News: U.S. President Donald Trump has once again threatened to impose tariffs on India, according to a Reuters report published on Monday (October 20).In response to questions from journalists, President Trump said that he had discussed the issue with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi assured him that India would not buy oil from Russia. However, Trump warned that if India breaks this promise, it would face significantly higher tariffs.

At the same time, Trump accused India of continuing to purchase oil from Russia despite the assurances.

It is worth noting that Washington has long claimed that India, by purchasing Russian crude oil, is helping President Putin finance the war. Later, relations between New Delhi and Washington deteriorated after Trump doubled tariffs on Indian goods to 50 percent. India, on the other hand, described the U.S. move as “unfair and unreasonable.”
