DST News: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said his party does not want a “negotiated” or engineered election, stressing that elections, though not a solution to all problems, are the starting point of change. He said a fair election plants the seed of a fair society. Calling for a truly credible voting process, he demanded an environment where voters can cast their ballots freely and see their votes reflected in the results, adding that CCTV cameras must be installed in every polling booth to ensure transparency and accountability.
Speaking at a meeting with retired armed forces officers in Dhaka, Dr. Rahman said Jamaat does not want elections like those held in the past, which lacked genuine public participation. He warned that any attempt to manipulate or engineer the election process would be resisted. Expressing optimism about the upcoming national election, he said a free, fair, and obstacle-free voting environment is essential for restoring public trust and ensuring a truly democratic outcome.
